How do I prepare for my fishing trips?

Our professional crew welcomes you with a brief orientation and a "how to" on fighting a fish. Our mate will be preparing all bait and hooks prior to your trip so you can enjoy the most beautiful views of the Island and the Mayan Riviera. Fishing lessons are provided if necessary.

What about tipping?

Tipping is totally discretionary, but expected and greatly appreciated in Mexico.  The ship mates on both the Second Front and the Nena will go above and beyond to make sure you have a great day on the water.  Captain Luis and Cristina pride themselves on offering personal service that is a cut above.  A general rule of thumb is 10% of the charter price.
If you happen to hook the big one, well…On our boats, all tips go to the mates.

How secure is my online payment?

There are many reasons that we use PayPal... 1) It's Fast. Payments are made immediately.  2) It's Private. PayPal does not reveal your financial information to sellers.  3) It's Global. PayPal is accepted worldwide, and can be used to make payments locally or internationally.  4) It's Trusted. Industry-leading fraud prevention keeps you safe and secure.

What about refunds?

We want you to have PEACE OF MIND when booking your charter.
If your ship does not make it into port, we will refund 100% of your prepayment.  If you cannot go out due to weather, we will either re-schedule with you or refund your prepayment, whichever you prefer.
If you change your mind and want to cancel we will give you 100% of
your prepayment with 15 days or more notice or 50% up to the day of
your excursion with less than 15 days notice.

Are there restroom facilities onboard?

Yes, the "Second Front" and  the "Nena" have toilets onboard.

Will I get back to my Cruise Ship in time?

Yes. We know the importance of getting you back to the pier in time for your departure. We guarantee that you will get back to the dock in plenty of time.

How do I know you will have a boat available on the day of my excursion?

Book your charter with confidence. We guarantee to have a great boat and crew ready. We book the Second Front on a first come, first served basis. If the second Front is chartered on the day of your excursion we have made arrangements with our neighbors to have a similar boat and crew available.

Where is the confirmation of the reserved date on my Paypal receipt?

You will automatically receive a receipt from PayPal, but it will be lacking your reservation date. FishCozumel.com will prepare for you a customized detailed confirmation that includes your reservation date.

Tell me about Flats Fishing?

The Flats are a fly or light tackle angler's dream come true. Each of the three major lagoons has the ideal habitat for Bonefish, Permit, and other sport fish. Our guides are highly experienced locals that are very familiar with the flats to ensure you the best chance of locating your quarry. We take you to Cozumel’s northeast flats along Bahia de Isla la Pasion. These flats have shallow, ankle deep "gin clear" water over a floor of white sand. Bonefish are plentiful 12 months a year. In season, you may also have a chance at a Grand Slam and reel in Bonefish, 20 lb. Tarpon, or the elusive Permit. From March to September, you can catch large permits up to 20 lbs. or larger. You may also have a shot at baby Snook in season, as well as Barracuda, Snapper, Triggerfish, and other sport fish. Two guests per boat. You'll need good wading shoes and polarized shades.
What kind of Fish will I catch?

Check out our fish chart to see what fish are running during your time of year.

Do I need to reserve in advance?

Yes! We are very busy, and it is very unlikely that we'll have boats waiting around for you to walk up and charter for the day. Advanced reservations are required to hold your boat, so reserve now!

How do I get to Marina Caleta?

All the taxis on the island know how to get to Marina Caleta. Your hotel will arrange for a taxi to take you there. If you are coming from a cruise ship, there are plenty of taxi's available as you get off the ship. The price could approach $10 from the far north hotel district, about half that from most of the south hotels and the cruise ship docks.

The are a lot of boats. Which one is the Second Front?

As you approach the water front in Caleta, turn left at the "T" intersection. When the road turns back to the right, you will see the SECOND FRONT between the
2 small buildings.

What is deep sea "Offshore" fishing?

Deep sea fishing is trolling along the channel between Cozumel Island and the Mayan Riviera, outside the protected areas of the Marine Park and in deep water about 1500 ft deep. This area is washed by the GULF STREAM and is followed by migrating fish, rich in nutrients allowing good deep sea fishing and excellent scuba diving year round. You can find sea turtles, dolphins, eagle rays, and sometimes migrating whales.
